Back to School Mindset

As families head back into the school year, we’re given a shared opportunity to start again and look at the year ahead with fresh eyes.

Refreshed routines, new notebooks, familiar faces, different expectations. New beginnings that can feel exciting and uncertain all at once, for kids and for the people who care for them.

The Nepean River Trail in Camden is one of Charlie’s favourite spots for a mental health walk.

Being better is something many of us quietly strive for each day. But what does “better” actually mean? It’s interesting how differently each of us interprets it, especially at the start of a new season.

As the year unfolds, goals will naturally shift and change. What matters most is helping our kids understand that effort counts, setbacks are part of learning, and trying again is always an option. Sometimes what we need isn’t better grades, better assignments, or even better shoes, but space. Space for personal growth, for discovery, and for finding what works best for each of us. When we slow things down and focus on progress rather than pressure, we offer our kids something steady to lean into — and that’s often where confidence and curiosity begin.
